Anne M. Turner, Esq.
Anne is a skilled attorney and gifted writer with experience in intellectual property licensing and enforcement, trademark and copyright prosecution, and strategic portfolio development. Shefirst joined the Hitchcock Evert team in 2005 and worked full-time for the firm prior to and while attending the evening Juris Doctorate program at SMU Dedman School of Law.
Anne has been integrally involved in all stages of the intellectual property lifecycle, from obtaining protection for trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets and domains to licensing and enforcing those assets to preparing IP assets for corporate transactions. She has particular expertise in strategic brand development, intellectual property licensing, managing international IP portfolios, sweepstakes and contest law, advertising and media compliance, andcorporate transactions. She works with clients in such diverse industries as hospitality, consumer electronics, real estate development, non-profit, and healthcare on trademark and copyright prosecution, maintenance and enforcement matters worldwide and is well-versed in enforcements against counterfeit and gray market goods. Anne also assists clients in their corporate transactional matters, including IP and cybersecurity due diligence for M&A agreements, acquisition and divestiture of IP assets, international commercial contracts, and complex IP license agreements.
In addition to intellectual property transactions and portfolio development, Anne has experience in all aspects of IP enforcement and litigation, including patent, trade secret, copyright, trademark and trade dress disputes for both plaintiffs and defendants. Her ability to clearly and persuasively communicate complex fact patterns, nuanced legal arguments, technical subject matter, and business outcomes makes her an invaluable asset in litigation briefing and settlement negotiations. Anne also has extensive experience in trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings in trademark offices worldwide, resolving domain name disputes through the Uniform Dispute Resolution Policy, DMCA and trademark take-down complaints on social media and e-commerce sites, and structuring litigation and enforcement settlements to achieve practical business results, particularly in the areas of digital marketing and advertising.
In addition to her busy practice, Anne has served as a teaching assistant for the Advanced Patent Litigation course at SMU Dedman School of Law and as a guest lecturer for the Intellectual Property for Paralegals course at Collin College. She has also presented to various sections of the Dallas Bar Association on the topics of franchisee compliance with IP standards, public art exhibitions, and IP due diligence in corporate transactions.
