Founding partner Lisa Evert brings over 35 years of experience to her leadership of Hitchcock Evert LLP.  Under her leadership, the firm has consistently earned Tier 1 rankings in US News & World Report's list of Best Law Firms in Dallas/Fort Worth for copyright, trademark and patent law and intellectual property litigation.

Lisa is praised by clients and peers for her strategic, business-minded counseling. She invests the time and attention to understand a client’s business, and her depth and breadth of experience in intellectual property allows her to develop comprehensive strategic plans to protect IP assets with a view to the long-term business goals of the client. Lisa views legal processes, not as an end unto themselves, but as tools to achieve a business objective – whether that is short-term success, efficient resolution of a business dispute, or eventual sale of the company.

Her practice includes such varied issues as asserting and defending against patent claims by both competitors and non-practicing entities, building a global patent and trademark portfolio, creating protocols to protect trade secrets and confidential information, customs enforcements in the United States and China, and due diligence in preparation for and during corporate transactions. She counsels clients in many consumer and commercial product and services areas, including complex software and business processes, real estate development, banking and finance, food and beverage, and consumer products. A registered patent attorney, she has worked with clients on patent matters in such diverse industries as petrochemicals, consumer electronics, explosives, computing, and medical devices.

Regardless of the size and industry of their business, all clients rely on Lisa’s ability to integrate legal solutions with practical strategies to assert and defend claims, build IP assets and protect their businesses.

Lisa is an active and well-regarded member of the Dallas/Fort Worth legal community. Her service to the American Inns of Court, the Dallas Bar Association, the Center for American and International Law, and the federal courts has earned her the respect and recognition of the judiciary, fellow attorneys and law students. She is a frequent lecturer and has spoken on a variety of intellectual property topics for clients, seminars and Continuing Legal Education courses. With two longtime colleagues, she helped develop a curriculum for an advanced seminar in Patent Litigation at SMU Dedman School of Law and was a joint professor for that course from 2012-2017.
